Regal gs
I have a 2017 buick regal gs awd. Bought last year march 15th with 53k on it, i noticed on the carfax at 14k miles it had a transmission replacement and then 16k it had a valve body done, so i made sure they gave me a drivetrain warranty, a week after I bought it i noticed that when the car is at operating temp, sometimes while driving straight from a dead stop, almost every time taking left turns (probably because right turns are a shorter distance) going through the turn it shifts, first to second fine, once it trys to shift second to third, its almost like it slips, the rpms rev up to roughly 3-3500k then it does a slight kick, and goes into gear. If in manual slap shift it dosent kick at all. I took it back to the dealer and after fighting with them about it they said the trans fluid was a qt or two low and when i would turn the fluid would go to one side and cause it. I called BS because when i drove the car again it was worse it did it every time leaving lights, almost a month of not having the car and numerous trips to the dealer to get the car to "recreate the problem" because neither of the two dealers that had the car could figure it out. Eventually after seeing what the car is doing they replaced the valve body again, great! The car was running fine for about exactly a year now there is 69k miles on it 75% highway miles, lately the car has been doing the same thing, left turns and straight from dead stops, first to second, fine second trys to shift around 2500rpm, revs up to 3500rpm like a clutch slip, then slight kick into 3rd gear. Again if I switch it to manual or if I'm a little heavier on the gas it dosent do it. I'll be calling my mechanic Monday to get his opinion before I call the dealer to take the car back. I just want to know if anyone else has had this issue with this car or any other regal gs. Thank you for any input or information

Here's what Google had to say:

If your 2017 Buick Regal transmission is slipping when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, it could be due to low or contaminated transmission fluid, or internal transmission issues like worn clutches or bands.

Here's a breakdown of potential causes and what to do:

Possible Causes:
  • Low or Contaminated Transmission Fluid:
    • Check Fluid Level: Low fluid can cause slipping and other transmission problems.

    • Check Fluid Condition: Old, burnt, or contaminated fluid can also lead to slipping.

    • Consider a Flush: If the fluid is dirty, a transmission flush might be necessary.
    • Worn Clutches or Bands: These components are responsible for engaging gears, and wear can cause slipping.

    • Torque Converter Issues: A failing torque converter can also cause slipping.

    • Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Problems: Faulty sensors or control unit issues can affect shifting and cause slipping.

What to Do:
  1. 1. Check Transmission Fluid:
    • Locate the transmission dipstick (usually a separate dipstick from the engine oil dipstick).

    • Ensure the car is level and the engine is running (but not accelerating).
    • Check the fluid level and color.

    • If the level is low or the fluid looks dark and burnt, take the vehicle to a mechanic.
    • If the fluid is fine but the slipping persists, a mechanic can diagnose the problem.

    • They may need to perform a transmission inspection, including checking the torque converter and internal components.
