Looking to get into a Buick.
Been eyeing a few Lacrosses 2017-2019. I see 2017s come with the 8 speed and the 2018+ come with a 9 speed? Did i get this right?
Are the 8 speed issues a real concern or should I just get a 2018/2019?

My wife's 2018 only has about 32K miles and trans has had no problems although once in a while you will notice an abrupt downshift but nothing I find concerning. When looking for a used 2017 or 2018 Lacrosse I found some reviews indicating the 9 speed had better acceleration. Car and Driver had a 0-60 time of 5.6 secs with the FWD 3.6. The highway mileage is amazing for its size and power. The best 25 mile MPG according to the car computer was 44MPG on a long trip. Of course around town it's more like 16-18 and even less in the winter.

The car has been great. I did have the battery and thermostat replaced under warranty, otherwise no problems.
We both love the car.

The 2017 models have the Asin trans while 2018 switched to the joint-built Ford/GM trans of similar design. The switch makes sense because GM has the resources to produce their own transmissions and no need to continue buying from an outside source. Both units are good but like with anything else, regular fluid changes are the real life of any automatic trans. My 2017 has about 40k on the clock, so I'm getting ready to do my first drain/refill fluid change.
