2018 Buick Regal Sportback GS Pre-Purchase questions

Car and driver has a misprint then, according to other sources the 4 Cyl 2.0L Turbo pushes the car 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, not 5.6.

Also at 5.6 seconds that would make the 4 Cyl Turbo FASTER than the GS with the 3.6L LGX V6 engine which puts out 60 more horsepower and 22 more ft/lbs of torque.
Surely they didn’t misprint both articles, huh?

All the figures I've seen locally for either 2.0 turbo or the 3.6 V6 the have been in the mid to high 6's for 0-100 kph. Bearing in mind 100 kph is 62 mph.

Car and Driver has the gs at 5.4. they even talk about how close the 2 numbers are in their review. Not a misprint.

The Malibu with the same 2.0L is listed at 5.7s in Motor Trend.

Well no Buick Regal GS for me, it just sold.

So now its down to a Mazda 6 Signature or a Nissan Maxima SR/Platinum

It's been a lot of fun and very engaging talking to all of you on here, learned quite a few things as well in the process. I am most definitely a "Sad Panda" 🐼 that I will not be able to drive off the lot in that Regal, to my wife's mild delight.

The Mazda 6 Sig is pretty sweet

Can't buy it until the funds come in from the mortgage, we are looking at next week most likely.

I'll sell you my Sportback for $27,000 😉

Its not in the GS trim, I will have to politely decline. Bonus points for not offering me a stupid ass crossover though.... I have had 3 dealerships try to offer me one of those if they did not have the vehicle in question that I was looking for.

Just keep an eye out, maybe like within a 150 mile radius. You could check CarMax periodically and see if they have one you can transfer for $500 or less.

There’s no reason why you couldn’t do a deal in a few months. If the numbers work, then the numbers work.

I'm located in Nebraska and haven't seen another 6th gen Regal GS out in the wild. I always tell myself that when the time comes to trade or sell my Regal, I'd have to send it out of town or the state far far away because I wouldn't want to see it driving around. As I type this, my 2019 Buick Regal GS has just about 24k miles on it. I purchased it in July of 2020. Sport Red with no Sunroof or the heads up display package. Pretty rare setup for the 2019 model year @Spartan0536

According to KBB, my miles and options states:
Fair Market Range
$32,068 - $35,889

That's a fair price for the mileage, the one I was looking at had over 50K, but with the right warranty that matters little to me. YAA had an excellent coverage plan for that car at 3K flat for 150K miles/5 Years @ $100 deductible. That warranty covered EVERYTHING outside of "acts of God" and normal wear and tear. All of the electronics, COVERED; complete drive train, COVERED; suspension system, COVERED; Air Conditioning, COVERED; you get the idea.

Like I said, I am a "sad panda" 🐼, but there was nothing I could do, I have to wait for the mortgage to go through and I can't take out any lines of credit during the process as stipulated in the contract for the mortgage. Now once its complete and we have the money, then its "balls to the wall go time".

FYI, the warranty through YAA is $3100 (60m 100k), $3694 (60m 125k) and $4601 (60m 150k).

They are out there. Like this one for instance. It would be worth transfer fee for me, but I need the prices to come down about $8K-$10K. *sigh*

They exist for sure, just normally out of my price range, which is what made that last GS such a gold mine, despite my wife disliking it over the Maxima... yes I wrote that correctly, the likes the Maxima over the GS, and she likes the Mazda 6 Signature almost as much as the Maxima.

Her opinion matters about 5% in my deliberations as she may need to drive the car at some point based on circumstances, so I would want her to feel comfortable in a basic sense with the car.

This is sad. Those bean counters in Ren Cen are no joke.
Should have come standard with all the bells and whistles on the GS.

D2R you are absolutely right. The GS should have come in one package: loaded. Sexy rear turn signals and the V6 turbocharged with an exhaust that you can hear. Coupled with a clever and strong marketing campaign, such a car would have made a big mark for Buick.

Even with all the option the price was still fair for all you get compare to another german car.
