This is driving me a little crazy, maybe someone can help. When the ignition is off and I open the drivers door the chime starts pinging incessantly. This is new and only started happening after we had the car washed yesterday, so I assume the person cleaning the interior hit some combination of buttons that turned this on. I called Buick Owners support and after asking for things like the VIN number they told me to take it to the dealer. This should be a simple question, there has to be a way to turn off the open door chime (when the vehicle is turned off). I tried disabling the "Key fob left in car" warning but that did nothing. Anyone know what I can do? It is really driving my wife and I nuts because we leave the driver door open while we are getting the kids out so we can then grab our phones from the front before locking up.

Have you looked at the Personalization settings in your owners manual on Page 152 such as the Rear Seat Reminder.

The door chime should not ring if the vehicle is off unless it is sensing a fob left inside. I would suspect the carwash ;may have gotten some water where it shouldn't be.

I went into settings and turn off the feature that warns you if the fob is left in the car so I don't think that is causing it. It only happens with the driver door, not the passenger door or back doors. If it were water it should have dried out by now but I don't think that is the cause as we have had it washed many times without a problem, not to mention driving it in heavy rain. I can add that the chime seems more rapid than if you open the door with the car running so it isn't the same chime. Still bugging me every time I stop and open the door. I thought it might be related to turing off the automatic interior lights when the door is opened but that idea didn't pan out...

Have the dealer look at it. That shouldn't be happening and it is still under warranty. It has to be an electrical problem.

Problem Solved. At the risk of sounding like an idiot I'll explain exactly what happened. It looks like when the person was cleaning the interior of the car he moved the lights from automatic to "On". The dinging was because the light switch was moved to on and the drivers door was open. Now I feel a little stupid not figuring that out right away but at the same time I spent over an hour and two different calls to the Buick owner support line and they had no clue about that either. It also isn't mentioned in the owner's manual. Both the support people and myself picked through the owner's manual for any mention of the word chime and didn't find anything helpful. So the problem is now solved and maybe it'll help somebody else in the future, I'm just happy that it's not driving me crazy any longer.

Thanks for the update,

Don't feel bad, 95 Lesabre doesn't ding and had bumped the interior light on while cleaning the dash. Neighbor that night asked if I knew, lol it cost a few beers but no dead battery and check every time now when cleaning any dash.

Thank you for updating us. Now I'll have to see if mine does that. I have had it on automatic operation since it was new.

My 2019 Enclave chimes, after engine is turned off and I open my door, only when the headlamp button has been changed accidentally or on purpose.

Thank you for posting the resolution. The same thing happened to me and I was able to quickly resolve the issue thanks to your post.

Oh my word.. thank you so much for posting the resolution! Same thing happened to us after having our car in for repair. It was driving us crazy and we couldn't figure out how to make it stop! A quick Google search and this conversation saved the day! Thank you!

Glad to hear it! That's what forums like this are here for. Stick around and we're here next time you have a question. 🙂 Best of all you don't need to "pay a pro" like some of those question and answer sites out there. This community is a free service.

Thankful for this post. Have had this problem for over a week and was going insane.

Thank you so much for posting the resolution!!! I watched YouTube videos, read the owners manual and pushed every combo of buttons I could think of and couldn’t get the chiming to stop until I read your post! It had never been happening before and I just couldn’t figure it out. That was the problem! Set the lights to auto and I’m saved!!! No more annoying chiming!!!

Add us to the list of grateful owners of a Buick Enclave. This was driving us crazy.
