2020 Regal Avenir - Radio upgrades?

I also upgraded recently to AAWireless and I agree it's far superior to the Motorola unit. It's faster plus you can control dpi and if configured correctly (in combination with AA) you can have unsanctioned apps for use. Plus, mirroring is a nice thing to have also.

But if you're not wanting to sacrifice a data port you can go with a powered USB hub. I'm doing that in order to add a separate 12.4" wide screen monitor to my dash

I have noticed that Android Auto is very sensitive and finicky when it comes to USB cable quality and brands.

I had Motorola MA1 and upgraded to AAWireless I believe it connects faster. The Motorola MA1 is one of the most prominent, though it doesn't include a dedicated app to tweak features or troubleshoot potential compatibility issues the way AAWireless does.

"The world’s most advanced wireless Android Auto dongle
In contrast to other popular Android Auto dongles, AAWireless comes with a free companion app. This app gives you full control over your adapter, so you can get even more out of Android Auto!"

Looks good.
Waiting for them to come up with an option for CarPlay. 😅

Very much so in my experience. I started with really good quality usb cables and would need to start swapping them out after a couple of months. I ended up trying cheap usb cables and they worked just as well. But ended up fed up and went original with Motorola. Which worked great until it stopped connecting with my phone.

I've tried to get into CarPlay and there's just something about it I just don't like. Could be because I'm a Linux fanboy but idk. I just find AA more customizable to a degree and integrated better with apps.

By the way, Motorola had some issues with 1st Gen. Mine died after the warranty was up, but they still sent me a new one, as a courtesy.

Mine died a month or so ago and it was way outside the warranty period. I probably spent a total of 20 hrs screwing with it in an attempt to fix and possibly improve. But by that time I swore I'd never buy a Motorola device again and the reviews for AAWireless are for the most part positive so I went with that. I do love how I can adjust the resolution with it

Motorola MA1 Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter is not even made by Motorola... It is not a bad product. AAWireless has frequent software and firmware updates, a big plus. AAWireless is based in the Netherlands and manufacturing is in Hungary, European Union.

I've noticed that it's a proud EU product and that did influence my decision to buy it. And you're right, it's maintained whereas the Motorola has never had a firmware update even offered for it

I recently purchased a 2020 Regal Avenir.
I would like to upgrade to a radio that includes wireless android auto.
Car audio places around me there is no aftermarket radio that will fit in the car or substiute OEM functions.
I have seen items on eBay that plug into one of the USB ports for wireless AA, but i don't want to give up a USB port either.

Now, all of this having been said (and ruling out aftermarket parts)...
Is it possible to install a radio from a different buick that does have wireless AA in my 2020 regal without losing any factory settings and gaining wireless AA?
Your best bet is going to be one of those Android AI boxes. You'll get Wireless Android Auto, Wireless CarPlay, and an Android interface for installing third-party apps. If you need extra USB ports, you can replace the module in your console and get one with two ports.

Just a follow up.
AA Wireless came out with their TWO+ recently.
I am going to try it out once it is delivered as I have both Android and iPhone to play with.
