Hey everyone,
I’m looking take my ‘18 TourX in for an oil change and thought it’s finally time I take care of some other routine maintenance.

Most notably:

Coolant flush
Brake fluid replacement
Transmission fluid replacement

I didn’t see any suggestions in the owners manual for replacing the transmission fluid unless you consider your driving “severe”.

Also didn’t see any suggestions for brake fluids. Coolant is around 60000 miles or 5 years (I’ve never done it 😬)

What have you all done? Can you skip the dealership or is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

2018 OM says brake fluid every 3 years, normal service.

Transmission service at dealer is pricey due to fluid used in the 8 speed in the TourX. There are other fluid brand options that are supposedly approved that are less expensive. Search this forum for those options. FWIW my dealer said best to do transmission fluid before 50K miles.

I had my TourX transmssion fluid changed around 45K miles and brake fluid at the 3 year mark....then somebody ran into me and I ended up getting rid of TourX and getting a 2020 Sportback. Did all 3 fluids on that car at around 35K miles due to time (9 speed trans has much lower cost GM fluid specified).

Worth it?....I figured it was. The brake fluid I could have done myself but didn't want to spend the time dealing with getting car up in the air 1 wheel at a time and I didn't want to deal with other 2 fluids DIY.

Thanks and appreciate the service manual highlights.

Re: worth it. I meant to say is it worth it to get this done at the dealer ($$$$) or could I go to another garage.

I had service coupons and GM Rewards points I used to defray the costs but safe to say a non dealer would be less expensive for those fluid changes.
