92 Riviera Headliner Fix?

Headliner is falling down/separating from whatever it is supposed to be glued to. Anyone know what I have to do to put it back up? I guess I have to remove all the plastic trim from around the inside. Any hidden secrews I need to be aware of.

Then I would use a spray glue like 3M high strength 90?

The original material is foam backed. What happens is, the foam disintegrates from heat, and the material falls down. The right way to do it is to disassemble the plastic trim, and pull the plastic headliner board down. Clean it with a wire brush. Then get new material from an auto upholstery place, and use the spray adhesive to glue the new material to the board. Then reassemble. It is a lot of work, but the results will be worth it. Simply gluing the material back up will not look the same.

I personally got some straight pins with pretty pearl ends, dipped the pokey part in gorilla glue and then pushed them back into that craptacular foam. I am thinking about making a mosaic.

I have yet to replace the liner in my car, just need to get around to it. While I have it apart I need to re-do the opera lights. But, when I have done other cars, agree with wire brushing and then I use a generous application of clear silicone caulk, then use a spreader. Does not need to be a uniform film, just zig zagged all over the panel. Then apply a thin white cotton batting, it's kind of like heavy felt. Then another round of caulk, the the colored fabric. Mine come out great, and there is no foam to degrade, the fix will last a lifetime.
