i have a 97 riviera with a multiple cylinder misfire. found out the last time the plugs were changed over 150k miles. i got the new wires and plugs and everything was going fine until i went to do the plug and wire and cylinder 6.

since the engine is mounted sideways the 6th cylinder is against the firewall and is only accessible on one side. i tried to twist and pull the plug off like i did with the others but it wasn't budging since i had no leverage.

i then tried pliers and again not much leverage so nothing came of it. like i said i have new wires so ruining the boot on there isn't a big deal.

i read somewhere that cutting it off is also an option if you're replacing it, so i tried that but with the metal sheathing over it i can't really get all of it out. i looked at the other sheathings and it won't be able to slide over the boot at all until it's out.

i know they make a spark plug wire pliers but i really don't think those will do anything since it's almost impossible to get anything on the boot at all nevermind get any means of leverage once you do.

any suggestions? i really need to fix this as fast as possible.

Yeah, common problem. I've always found it easier to go from underneath. You just have to keep pulling on it until it comes off. The boot gets destroyed. Use some dielectric grease inside the new boots to prevent that from happening again.
