Just picked this up. 200k miles, dirt cheap. Billy Joe Jimbob had worked on it prior to purchase. The sunroof would open to vent, then stall. Seller said "she might leak a bit". Have had no rain since I got it. Tore out headliner, which was 3 separate levels of Hell. Popped motor, which runs nonstop in one direction, goes a from 12 to 3 o'clock on the wheel the limiter switch runs on, then shuts off. Took glass out, trolley was popped loose on one side. Maybe I knocked it out. Trying to sync roof motor. Found one breakdown that says to get trolley lined up as if the glass was flush, then align trolley pin with 4th rib in the bracket. This thing is off by almost 2 inches, if I am looking at the right pin. Is it the lower pin with a black plastic roller on it, or the one that is molded as part of a spacer that faces inward? What's most frustrating is that I subscribed to the Alldata deal that gives you the actual GM service information. While I was checking fuses popped the back seat, which was soaked underneath. When pulling headliner found a broken drain line.
I freely admit that I have never had occasion to mess with a sunroof. But felt comfortable with my overall skill level to tackle this.

Thanks for your time.

I have no advice but I feel your pain. I think a FSM is your best bet.

Patmark - are you still working on this? I have a 98 PA and I also have the FSM - if you need detailed info on the sunroof I may be able to help. Let me know exactly what you're trying to do.

Yep. Kinda became a hobby. Junyarded a decent motor that seems to cycle correctly. Took a good guess on syncing motor. Will now open vent, but otherwise binds. The trolley is in poor shape. Not finding any info on the system. Also replaced the control module. Next step would be to find a donor car and try to get the trolley and gears out intact. Am I correct in assuming that there is a cable assembly that runs from the motor driven shaft to the trolley?
This will eventually be a school car for my daughter. Pretty close to cutting a 5/8" section of CDX plywood and getting out the caulking gun.
Alldata is the bonafide Buick shop manual. Extremely limited in regards to the fabled Astroroof.
Any and all inputs appreciated.

Thanks for for your time.
