I just got this Regal (super clean) from my Uncle and I'm going to give it to my daughter and I can't believe theres not a button to relase trunk lid in glove box (how cheap) and I was wondering if I could wire in a button to release the deck lid? The trunk can only be opened from fob or by key.

Why cannt she just press the key fob button? Seems like some effort would be required to find the correct wire at the release actuator, run a wire from somewhere in the front to the actuator and hope applying power that way doesn't feed back into the BCM causing damage.

Did you happen to solve this issue of the trunk release?

keyfob reply: what if the key fob isnt working? should always be a way into the trunk without relying on just a key.

I also have a 99 and haven't found a trunk pop button either. Looked around by the seat, in the glove box, etc. Tried to google it too. Seems pretty lame that you can only open the trunk with the keyfob. What if your battery is dead but your jumper cables are in the trunk. Etc. I think my gtp had the button in the glove box.

Owners manual page 2-14 states use the key to unlock the trunk. Also states on page 2-51 to access through back seat if you have the center pull down.

I must be half asleep, after I posted that I thought, well, wait a minute, if the battery was dead, then the button wouldn't work either. Haha. I did have a honda that actually had a cable going to the back, you pulled up on a little lever and it popped it without using any electronics.

Are you saying you can't use the key to open the trunk?

I don't know, I never tried! I was just surprised I've been unable to find any way of opening it from inside the car, like the buttons/levers in my other cars. I've owned quite a few cars over the years and I think this 99 regal is the only one that doesn't have some kind of button. (Or one that's easy enough to find anyway)

Did you look at the two pages I mentioned earlier?
If you don't have the manual it's available at Buick.com.

No, because you already wrote that it says you can either use the key in the trunk lock or go through the seat, if your seat allows you to. I suppose I could go out and see if the manual is in the car, but since you've already read it, does it say anything else? You're really holding me in suspense here. Haha

I should be trying to figure out the non functioning heat situation now, but I don't know where to go with that at the moment.
