ABS + Traction Control Light is ON

I have a 2007 Buick Allure CX and just last week both ABS & Traction Control came ON. So now whenever I start my car, both these lights come ON & stay ON. Any quick way to fix both these lights or do I have to take it to the dealer ???
Any help is really appreciated...Thanks.

In the GM cars that I had, when those two lights came on, there was always a problem with the sensor in the wheel hub or the wiring harness (wires pinched, or bare wires or harness connector lose) going to the hub.

Sometimes the problem was intermittent, but kept coming back until the lights always stayed on all the time. You may need to have your wheel hub replaced or your wiring fixed going to the bad wheel. Your dealer will know which wheel is causing the problem.

Your car does not have antilock brakes when those lights are on. You should get this fixed.

It may be your ABS module that's causing the problem.. I had those same symptoms on the wifes GTP..

There are many places on the internet that will repair your module for big BIG $$ savings over a dealerships repair.. Just Google "ABS Repair", and make your choice..

You just take your defective module off (real easy), and send it to a place like above.. You cars brakes will work normally (just no ABS) while it's off..

Mine came back in less than a week, and it worked perfectly.. And no more ABS lights..

I just left my Buick dealer after having the same issue diagnosed and repaired. I have a 2011 CXL with 19000 miles. The "Service Brake Assist and Stabilitrak Service appeared on my info screen along with the warning lights. This started 3 days ago intermittently, and yesterday the warnings came on and stayed on. The dealer showed me the broken sensor wire that was housed in the left rear wheel well. He explained that the plastic fender liner had rubbed against it to the point where the wire had frayed and eventually broke. This wire is a very thin 14-16 gauge wire. He also showed how the design of the inner liner allowed water and dirt to collect in the area where the wiring harness was. He spliced the wire and wrapped it to prevent more chaffing.
Interestingly my Lacrosse was the 3rd vehicle they had repaired for this issue in the last 4 days. There was one in the shop that had just been repaired this morning. The service manager said there was no TSB from GM on the issue. He was contacting GM this afternoon.

Sounds like a definite design flaw.

It looks like in my Buick...it is impossible to read the codes !!! Had taken it to 2 guys...both of them were not able to read the codes...one the guys came back with this "I check why I couldn't see errors. It's because your car have separated system for ABS."
Anyway this guy did a visual inspection of the car & found that driver's side wheel had a wire hanging...so basically the wire going into the front wheel bearing with abs sensor had come out...he told me that the connector is broken...which means it needs to be replace which will be expensive...also he told me "Good Luck getting that part" !!!
I can post some pics if that would help...but now I am kinda confused...does it mean that my front wheel bearing with abs sensor is broken or is it just that the connector (thing connecting the front wheel bearing with abs sensor to wire) is broken ???

It's impossible to read the codes without spending money.
Reading the ABS codes requires a Tech2 with the correct software.
Many 'guys' buy a generic tester and/or don't bother forking out the cash for the right software.
For your issue, you might need a new wheel bearing/hub/sensor (it's all one part) or just the connector repaired/bypassed. Any tech worth a damn would have been able to tell you exactly which parts you need. Also the hub is a very common part and are available like candy.

Did a search and found this thread. Did not want to start a new one unless I should?

My friends car has the C0040 code, and 0245 code. I changed the front drivers side bearing (needed it anyways but noticed the entire connect was gummed up and other 3 are clean) and the codes went away then came back once we started driving.

I did some reading and tested the other 3 abs sensors. All were around 1100 ohms. Unless they can still be faulty, the issue must lie either in the connector on one of them, or a wire running back is broken right?

I did look up that 0245 and it pointed to the EBCM. I don't want to know what a dealership would charge for that, but i did hear about absfixer(.com) that will do cheap repairs.

I am unable to find the wiring pinout and layout of where I need to trace these wires to to check for connectivity. Can anyone help me and give me some pointers on what else to look at?

My car clubs scanner does read abs, but it tells me 0040 is a rear sensor on the scanner. However, most google search results say front right???

I had that same message on my 2011 CXL and was told it was debris in the harness. They cleaned it out and as I was driving off the lot the message came back on and they said it was a wire. I guess the same problem as yours. Car had four more months for the warranty to expire so I took that as a sign to get a 2014. ��

2008 Allure 120,000 kM, Transmission failure, front wheel hub on RHS replaced, both wiring harnesses failed, lights still on.. My last Buick.
