I ordered two 106001 intakes from Amazon and one from rockauto and all three were missing the metal sleeve that they claim has been added to the original design as an improvement. I called them to find out how to get the sleeve and they say that there is a new plastic they are made with now and don't put the sleeve in anymore. That's the reason I went with the ATP over the dorman was to get that upgraded area or the plenum. Maybe I can find something that will fit in there so I can add it myself. Has anyone else gotten their ATP 106001 plenum without that sleeve?

Here's a photo of what I have and there is supposed to be metal in there.

You should try to contact the manufacturer and find out what happened. I have 2 in stock but I haven't had the need to replace one yet. Mine are probably 3 or 4 years old.

I called ATP and the guy said they use new plastic now and doesn't require the metal sleeve. I'm thinking that I should have just gotten the dorman part and saved $40 the dorman is the same thing now.

Wanna sell one of the metal sleeves? JK it's useless without it. Idk if I believe them using new plastic now. I don't see it advertised anywhere all I see is their new improved design with the metal sleeve and they now ship them without it. Seems sketchy

There should still be enough of an air gap between the EGR stovepipe and the manifold to ensure integrity.....at least I hope for your sake.

Yes they included a smaller diameter stovepipe to install. I hope that works. I sent them an email over at ATP to see if they can send me a metal sleeve to make me feel better

I'll ask a couple sellers to send me pics of that location of the part and if it's got the metal sleeve I'll buy it great idea.

Have you tried eBay?
Great idea I'll ask a couple sellers to send me a pic of that area of the part and if it has a metal sleeve I'll buy it.

That one is a good price but it looks like it's missing the metal sleeve. I can't tell unless I get better pics of that area. I messaged them and asked them if they see metal sleeve inside that area

There's another one that's even cheaper but has no pic of that area. I also messaged them and hopefully I'll find one with that metal in there.

I wrote to them so I hope they get back to me in time to ship it to me by the 29th which is when I have garage time booked to install it

Let us know when you receive it.
Ok I will. I'm planning to install on the 28th thru the 30th. Waterpump, tensioner, elbows, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and wires, radiator, lower intake gaskets, upper plenum, clean throttle body, transgo shift kit filter and magnets and finally a new drive belt. Whew I hope I can get it done in three days I'm borrowing a garage
