Automatic Gear shift bezel removal

My 2013 Buick Encore gear shift bezel cover/plate is peeling crome. I've purchased new cover but need advise on how to remove old one

You may have to remove the shifter from the floor to do this properly.

do you have to remove the shifter from the floor? even if it’s just the trim piece around the stick? should i do this myself or get it done professionally?
