The LeSabre does not use a BCM but instead distributes traditional BCM functions and tasks across the following (3 or 4) modules.
1.
Dash Integration Module (DIM): Located behind the glove box (not difficult to remove). Custom & Limited.
2.
Instrument Panel Controller (IPC): Located on the instrument Panel. Custom & Limited (a little tough to remove but doable). More I/O & functions are involved for models with the full DIC.
3.
Rear Integration Module (RIM): Located under the rear deck. Unfortunately it requires upper back seat removal to access the (2) retaining bolts. Custom & Limited.
4.
Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPIM): Located on the passenger side directly in front/above the accelerator pedal (not difficult to remove), Limited with automatic climate control only. In my view, the name is a bit of a misnomer, this module is where the digital controls reside for the Automatic Climate Control Ironically, the digital climate control is somewhat of a unintelligent module vs. the manual climate control, which is where all of the intelligence resides. Limited with auto climate control only.
Note 1: Within this distributed architecture, the DIM physically resembles the traditional BCM. I have not yet been able to compile an accurate list of which module does which functions. I think it's fair to say the DIM and RIM handle most of the tasks. If anyone has more detailed information as to task assignment distribution, this would be helpful for member Lesabre owners. I hope over the winter months to attempt to compile a detailed task assignment list for each module (if I am successful, I will share my results).
Note 2: I have confirmed that the DIM and the IPC require the recipient vehicle
VIN to be programmed when replacing these modules, the
VIN can be configured directly to the onboard EEProm (which is a little cumbersome but doable) or by a GM dealer.
