I recently have been on the hunt for a low mileage sedan. I have owned the previous 2 generation Impalas in the past, and my initial search I was looking at the last generation Impalas up to 2020's with under 40K miles. I never saw a Regal GS last generation in person, but during online research I came across them. I do really liked the look and the sporty features of them. It was also during the research that I discovered Lacrosse gets better ratings than the Impala. of this generation. I have test driven a 2017 Lacrosse and really enjoyed it. I have a found a few Regal GS out there, but they a fewer and farther between and are a bit of a drive for me to take a look at. Does anyone have any pro's/cons of the Regal vs. the Lacrosse. Has anyone owned both of the '17 to '19 models of these?
The Regal will be slightly more expensive (depending on the trim level of the Lacrosse), and just wanted to get some advise prior to making a trek to test drive a Regal GS.
Any advise is appreciated!

I had a good long look at the Lacrosse that was in the dealership while I was buying my Tourx, and I think it's a hell of a nice car. The interior of the Lacrosse was lux!
I'd probably weigh if you are more interested in a sporting ride (Regal GS) and downright plush luxurious (Lacrosse)

The LaCrosse is the same car as the Impala, just a bit more class.
The LaCrosse is a Larger car than the Regal.
The LaCrosse has the same 3.6L V6 as the Regal GS.
The LaCrosse is pure comfort and luxury, where the Regal GS is sporty and more for performance based with its Brembo Brakes and Racing styled Seats...

LaCrosse can be had with FWD or AWD, where the Regal GS is AWD only.
LaCrosse has a more spacious backseat.
LaCrosse can be had with a panorama sunroof where the Regal GS can be had with a non-panorama sunroof.
Depending on the model year, the Regal GS could come with the newer infotainment or the older one where the LaCrosse comes with the older infotainment only.
Regarding the ride, you need to test drive both to see which one fits your taste better.

I drove my neighbor's Lacrosse. I've never sat in a GS, but one noticable difference between the Lacrosse and my TourX was that the seats were entirely different with almost no side bolstering. They were soft, but had little lateral support. The GS has upgraded seats to the TourX so if you like to be held snug in your seat, consider the GS.

The LaCrosse V6 has less torque than the version in the Regal GS. What I don't understand is, why is the Regal GS 350 lbs heavier than the AWD Lacrosse?
