Help
I have a problem with the registration date of my buick! I written you from Athens Greece i bought a buick skylark 1967 convertible from Bulgaria this car belong to a private seller who worked before many years to the communist government! This car import to Bulgaria in 1988 and all documents that I have they are not writing the real registration date! This is a big problem for three Greek authorities because it's unpossible to get antique traffic plates! Any ideas to have a confirmation document? Only data plate shows this but the greek authorities need from buick company this document!

What is a registration date?
Do you mean manufactured date?

Ηι
Μanufactured date is 1967

What else do they need to determine the year of the car?? Registration date has nothing to do with the year of the car!

I explain all ready what the numbers means but the Greek authorities unfortunately want a confirmation though dealer!!that's my main problem!if I have this confirmation I'll finish and I'll save my car!

Clearly stated in the VIN plate, "1967"! !

Evidently the "Greek Authorities" have no idea how to read the VIN, or they are just giving you a hard time. Sound like a bunch of dumb a*ses to me! As shown, the six digit in the VIN identifies the year! In addition, lower in the VIN plate, it clearly shows the year the car was built!! Are all "Greek authorities" that dumb?

Iam understanding all you say you think it's difficult to have the confirmation from buick dealer?

The Buick dealer has nothing to do with the year the car was built!

From the VIN plate, it clearly states that it is a 1967! When the dealer sold the car, should have no influence on the year of the car, or when the car was built! Som Ting Wong with "Greek Authorities"!??

Maybe because the car before I buy it it was import from bulgaria so the first import date for bulgaria was 1988!so the Greek authorities unfortunately recognize the first bulgaria documents!!that's why I need confirmation from buick factory!

Thank you so much for the sypport

The VIN number is a confirmation from the factory!! I don't understand what the problem is with the "Greek authorities"??

Yes exactly! The Greek authorities don't recognize the Vin number only the Bulgarian custom import document

I don't know what to do !I talk with the old Bulgarian owner the Bulgarian custom office they keep archiv for 10 years so 1988 import 1998 archiv!
Sounds like a bunch of dumb ass people over there to me! They can't keep records for more than 10-yrs??

Ex communist government! What you are expecting?

I had a military friend who had a similar issue with a motorcycle in Europe. Go to the American Consulate in your country and get a letter on Consulate stationary stating what the owners papers mean. Also they can help you get documents from the Bulgaria Consulate if needed.

Thanks, I would not expect any better results from a "communist government"!😏🙁
