CarPlay and USB Media through USB hub in 2018 TourX?

With only one USB port in the armrest in my 2018, I can only use either USB media OR CarPlay. Will a USB hub let me use both CarPlay and USB media at the same time? I tried with a Belkin USB 2.0 4 port hub - the USB media works, but couldn't get CarPlay to work through the hub. The hub also got really warm!

I'm sure I saw a post by someone a while back who solved this problem with a particular USB hub that let him use both USB media and CarPlay simultaneously, but gave up trying to find it after hours of searching.

Has anyone had success trying to use the ONE USB port connected to the head unit for CarPlay and USB media at the same time?

They’re cheap enough, why not experiment? One word of caution though; a USB hub communicates to a device capable of multiprocessing. A TourX? Not so much. Just look at what the display and audio do when you put it in reverse.

2 USB and 1 Aux. in the center console, all three have worked flawlessly.......so far.

If you read my link, I personally swapped out the single USB for the 2 USB/1AUX module and all works flawlessly.

Same... but I have essence with Bose. Not sure about Preferred or w/o Bose.

I also recall that there was someone on here WITH Bose that didn't have dual ports or AUX. I believe it was a late 2017 build. Mine is very early 2018.

My Sportback Essence, built in 01/18, has only one USB port and no AUX.

I purchased a dual USB/Aux module for $20.99 off eBay on kqian111's recommendation - received it 3 days and just installed - works perfectly! Now I can use CarPlay and USB media at the same time, and still have an AUX jack that also works.

I had to fabricate two short spudgers to remove the old module. I filed down the ends of old toothbrushes, pushed them into the slots on the module, and it popped right out.

So, we know that (p)1351 9224 is compatible. The link dbillett provided links to (p)1350 9943 (it is a white part. This might not be what dbillett actually linked to at the time since it was in November 2019) and it is compatible (or not depending on if this is the actual part they linked to at the time). Confirmed part 1350 9943 now ranges from $48 to $99 on ebay and Amazon. However, there is a (p)1350 9942 and it ranges from $21 to $34. It looks the same as the other parts listed above. Does anyone know of its compatible or not? The description lists it as a gm/gmc/buick/Chevrolet part.

So when you select an input on the screen it is automatically showed AUX?

I haven't used the AUX, but the files on the USB just show up in Media/Music.

Wifes TourX shows the aux when you hit the media icon but only if you have something plugged into the aux port. Same with the USB, nothing plugged in, it just tells you no media found. 2 USB and aux plugged in, it will switch between the 3 when you hit the media icon. It does have the S&S package.

Nice! Mine is coming next week. Even though I always drive with 64GB flash drive plugged in and using car navigation, it would be nice to have android auto going while I still can have my 64gb music storage plugged in.AUX as a bonus.
