2018 Holden Commodore ZB VXR
Hi all,

I've been having persistent issues with my Apple CarPlay wired connectivity in my 2018 Holden Commodore ZB VXR (Australian badged Buick Regal).

When trying to change songs using either the steering wheel controls, or the centre console - there is a delay of up to 20 seconds until the song actually changes. This happens about 90% of the time. When I try skipping songs using the touchscreen, however - there is no delay.

I also notice that the song information on the information cluster freezes at 1 sec duration even though the song keeps playing for up to 20 seconds. I've taken it to the dealer twice but they can't replicate the issue as it usually doesn't start occurring until the phone has been plugged in for a few minutes.

This is driving me crazy and would love to hear if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas on how to fix it! I've tried 10+ genuine Apple cables and reset both phone and car and it still keeps occurring!

Yes - I also experience this when using Apple CarPlay.
When using Bluetooth audio, there seems to be no issue using track up./down buttons on the wheel.
I am using an iPhone 11 Pro with the latest iOS.
I believe my infotainment system is about one or two updates below the latest version.
I have learned to live with it - I just wait for the song to change and don't press the button again (which will then skip TWO songs when it gets around to it...)
Yet another "high tech electronic bug" in the Android based infotainment system.

Same in our TourX, but then my '21 RAM Classic pickup also delays when skipping a track, which makes me think it's something in CarPlay, not in the car system.

Same, the steering wheel control + the instrument panel seem to be a completely different computer system from the center console + screen, so it's not really surprising for commands to reach there with a delay IMO. It's not the worst thing GM did on this car, to be fair

Interesting for me at least though that it sometimes seems to fix itself and work without fault, usually for the first few minutes of driving. Then it starts having the song skip lag issue which makes me somehow think it is related to indexing? I admittedly haven't tried it with other music apps yet.

I haven't seen this posted once on the Australian justcommodores forums, which makes me think it might be a fault that doesn't affect every vehicle? In which case I'm hopeful it can be fixed. Am tossing up whether or not to take it back to the dealer again to try and get them to look into it further.

"Experiencing lag with
when skipping songs using the steering wheel controls? It could be a connection issue, but using a stable app like [Spotify Mod APK] might help reduce delays."
