Charging system indicator light when accelerating

sure it's not a belt or a pulley issue?

if the belt starts slipping the alt light will come on if it's severe.

usually a too tight or too loose belt. And once it's starts slipping it leaves slippy rubber residue on the pulleys and things that's a b to remove.

Hope you get it solved :headbang:

HERE IS WHAT FIXED MINE. Same exact symptoms - charging light on and dash lights going crazy when accelerating on the highway. Changed the altenator regulator and it was fixed. PLEASE NOTE: The altenator repair shop called and said the altenator checked out good. I told him about a post here that discussed the regulator fix. He said "well we really don't have a reliable way to check the regulator". I instructed him to change the regulator and that was the fix!!!

Was having same problem with my 07 and took it to the shop and showed them this tread and come to find out it was the alternator. Got her fixed and the wife is happy now. Next to install the pioneer double din.

I wonder if that is my problem..my battery light went on for a couple seconds while on the highway.Scared the begebees out of me.Took it to the dealer who is so backed up with recalls right now might be next decade before they could get to it.They did check everything out briefly ,said everything is fine ..called another repair service who said it might be a fluke..also might be the ignition switch ..popular recall item..he is also backed up with recalls..so I am scared to drive far for fear of something else happening..called around for car rentals but with EAA in town that also might be the next decade...any suggestions folks?

It was fine until it continued to drain the battery. Then had alternator changed out. Haven't had any problems since.

Had the battery light problem for years. Checked both my battery and alternator with a professional electrical load and voltage tester. Checked out fine. Light would still come on intermittently. All connections were good. Replaced alternator with AC delco rebuilt alternator and problem is gone. I believe it is a diode(s) failing under load. Unless you are testing the alternator during the failure all will check out okay. Glad problem is resolved.

If you can remove the alternator your self, it may be a cheaper alternative to have the alternator rebuilt, if you're lucky enough to have a shop around that still does it. They can swap out the circuit board that has the resistors in it cheaper than you can find a reman. unit. They can also check the brushes and other internals while it's there to see if replacing the entire alternator is warranted. It sounds like having it done under warranty is going to require complete failure of the alternator. Not sure if you can get a tech at the dealership to drive around with you so you can show them under what condition the malfunction occurs.
