good to know. now what about headers? do they need to be b-body specific?

Yes they do. I've heard of a few guys getting universal fit Afterburner headers to work with some manipulating though. Unless you plan on racing your B, keep the manifolds, shorty headers are worthless, and good long tubes are a fortune for our cars.
