I asked my roommate to check my oil before coming to work (we work together & he had my car) he said it was just below the top dot on the oil stick so I said OK just top it off. I’ve got oil in the garage. I explained it’s a 5 quart gray bottle with a handle should be 0W –20. He said he found it kind of flashed the back of the bottle or the bottom of it while on FaceTime and proceeded to top off my oil. While doing so he said that it was pretty full to begin with so he didn’t want to put too too much and overflow it so we only put a little bit. Later that day, my check engine light came on before I got home didn’t think too much of it. I was getting an oil change the next day and so I was going to ask the mechanic then to do some diagnostic test. The next morning, I’m on my way to work & I see the gray bottle in my backseat because I told him just to go ahead & put the bottle in my car when he was done. I see DEXCOOL & immediately realized that it was coolant he put in my oil tank….. so far we’ve drained all the oil out & put new oil in reset the code but the engine light came back on after driving 15 mins HELP!!!

You need to go to AutoZone or similar parts store or ask the mechanic doing the oil change to do a code scan to determine why the light is on.
Also does the oil fill cap say 0W20 on it?
Did you also replace the oil filter?

As said if the oil filter wasnt changed the oil still has antifreeze in it. It my take a few oil and filter changes to get clean oil again. I would buy cheap oil and filter and run the engine 10 minutes and change oil and filter again. Use 10w30 for this and the oil you like after completion. Assuming you dont hear engine knocking and get oil pressure goes back to normal it will be ok.

That's a horrible mistake to make.

Change the oil and filter again. But make sure you let the car sit overnight to let the coolant settle. When you take the drain plug off, if there is any more coolant it will come out first. What's the code coming up as?
