Door wiring

I'm interested in adding lights for under the doors when they are open. Is there a wire in the door I can splice into that is switched off normally but switched on when the door opens? If so what color is it in the harness?

You could maybe use the dome light voltage and have these on when dome light is on. Pin 19 on Body control module gray wire.

Unless it currently has a light on your 2017 Encore door doubtful wiring would be available. Various aftermarket products are available but may require wiring to be added, hopefully someone can confirm on options.

Is it possible to hook up to the door ajar switch? Not sure if it's positive or ground wired. Grounded would be nice, could use negative from door switch and use positive from door lock switch which should be hot constantly on one end.

Not a switch. We're in 2021 it's a sensor.
