I ordered a C.A.F. Rock Auto catalog on line. I used the next cheapest shipping and it came in half the time that they promised. I got the Rock Auto 'heart' rated item which means this is a popular choice of all the items in this category. It is a Pro-Tec Wix filter part no. PXP24812. Price was $7.03, shipping was 5.99, and tax was 0.91. Total was $13.93. Take a look at Advance Auto , AZ, and O'Reilly's for their price but look for a quality brand, not just a cheap price.
This is an easy install compared to many of the other C.A.F. in other vehicles that require you remove the glove compartment and go into the dash panel.
Check the video's from 1A Auto and TRQ plus many other individuals for their helpful instructions. Just open the hood and you will see the access panel for the CAF, It is on the passenger side of the Wind Shield Wiper cowl. Push in two plastic thumb latches and that is it. No tools required. One suggestion I would like to add is to clean the housing area well with Lysol disinfectant and a micro towel to remove any old and mildew. Use a shop vac to remove leaves and debris from the panel area. This is an easy job due to the convenient access from under the hood. The owner's manual is the usual source for these type maintenance items. However, I could not find any instructions on R & R for this CAF item. It did list the part number for the OEM CAF and that's it. Let us know how your project went.

you can either remove the whole plastic carrier and put the filter on it or you can remove the filter from it on the car(ive done that) you can also buy the whole carrier with a new filter for ease of change but its not hard. good work!

Should note that the cabin air filter was an option, not standard. If your car did not have the option (like mine), you'll need to buy the plastic housing as well. On RockAuto, there's several options that have the filter pre-installed in the housing. WIX filter with housing is only $5 more. You can just slap the filter in without the housing, but air will just slip past the filter so what's the point? For a few extra bones, they also have options for carbon/charcoal or antimicrobial filters.

are you sure it was optional and yours just didnt have it yanked out? I dont think the airflow in your hvac would work well without the filter there(could be wrong) meaning it was probably installed factory. maybe the manual says its optional?

I believe the cabin air filter was standard on the Limited up to 2002. Then in 2003,
when I bought a car, thinking it was in the Limited, I later found it was missing. Cost
savings, again, by GM, at owner expense.

I bought one on Rockauto with the frame. Then replaced the media later with Purolator
filters when I made changes. I skipped all the special, magic, advertised filter variations.
