EGR Valve replacement

It may take about 50 miles of driving before the EGR monitor is activated to test the system. I hope the problem is resolved!
Wow that's a lot of driving will take me 2 or 3 weeks 🤦‍♂️

You could force a faster reset if you follow a pre-inspection road test.

I do that everyday back and forth to work.😉
I'm on disability with severe degenerative disc disease . Changing that EGR Valve alone was painful . Had to take a muscle relaxer. It sucks but at least I can drive and I own a Park Avenue 🙃

Do you work from home? I don’t have that option.😳

No, I was in route sales in the beer industry my whole life and there are no work from home positions in that industry. I babysit my senile father that lives with us . I consider that work but I don't get paid for it 🥴

Just an update . The Dorman EGR Valve did the trick. Been driving a few days now and the check engine light hasn't come back on. Also, my gas mileage is back up at 21mpg city ⭐

Excellent!!!! I hope you learned something.
Yeah I learned how to save $300 by changing it myself lol. I looked it up on repair pal website and estimate in my zip code to replace it is anywhere between $320 - $445 !!!! No thanks with gas being $4.49 gallon, cooking gas and electricity going up 3 times since last year and super market prices doubling and tripling I can't afford to pay these mechanics rediculous money to turn 2 nuts

I am sure the estimates included the EGR valve & labor. I changed mine in less than 15-min.

Yes . The unit plus labor. The labor of turning 2 nuts and unplugging a wire harness 🤦‍♂️ anyway, I cleaned the original one out with carburetor cleaner and brushes to keep on hand just in case.

Actually the lesson that I was hinting at was to buy a quality part in the first place and quit dicking around with cheap parts so that you only have to do the job ONCE. 😳😎

Well when you're in a financial situation like me you start of with the cheapest parts . Unless you're willing to order it and have it shipped to my house 😁

Time is money. Sometimes buying cheap can cost you more in the long run.

I have plenty of time . I don't have much money .

If the stepper motors in the EGR have failed, cleaning the passages & pintel, will have no positive results. Best place for that EGR, is in the trash can!
I've actually watched mechanics on YouTube clean then and put them back on their car having success . The valve gets stuck from carbon deposits. If by chance it doesn't work there's no money lost.

Anyone have or know were to get an Egr adapter. I have a 1999 Park Ave ultra. Can't find one.
