Hello my wife is driving a 1994 Buick le sabre we got from her grandma. It has the tuned port injection 3800 with 105,000 miles on it and it has some sort of electrical problem we believe. Today I just put a new alternator in it hoping it would fix our problem but it didn't, it needed one anyways so I was hoping to get lucky.. The lights flicker and you can hear the engine alternate RPM when this happens. The volt light turns on and off and when the headlights flicker all the dash lights and radio do as well. There isn't a check engine light on so i don't know how or what else to check.. If anyone has any ideas please shoot me an email and it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you, Mike. mmmmolson@gmail.com

Interesting Problem..........Sorry you spend the money on an Alternator,
throwing Parts at the Problem.

Here is where I would start.................It has to be a Loss of Power problem, but remember the it can also be a GROUND (Negative Battery Lead), Battery problem, Ignition Switch Problem or Electrical Relay/Plug Problem. When it happens, how long does it stay off, or does it just quickly cycle on & off? I'd suggest having the Battery Load Tested first. This will rule out the Battery. Then I'd check the Battery Cables (Both Cables, and Both ends of EACH) for good connections, no Corrosion, and good clean shiny connections on the far end of the Battery Connections. That should rule out the cables. From there you are going to need the Schematics for your year car to start tracing the Power Circuit. I've only got a Service Manual for my 1999 Lesabre.

If you can locate some test Points on the Schematic, you can connect a Meter and drive it enough to keep walking down (or up) the schematic to locate where Power is being intermittently dropped. That could take a while!

Does it ever do it when you are not driving? Does it happen when you hit a Bump? Any other information you can supply would be helpful.

Sounds like the same problem I have with my 95 model......I going to look into the PCM and maybe the crank sensor

Maybe, security light! anti theft is sometimes anti start! try jumping it; put the black ground on the bracket that the engine was lowering in the car! if it starts; then the starting motor is good!
