Engine light and a burning smell

My engine light stays on once I start my car but it doesn’t happen every time I start it. It just started happening. When the light stays on after I turn the car off my engine smells like it is burning.
 
Take it to the dealer as soon as possible. It sounds like a dangerous situation.
