You editing the previous post makes my post #21 answer look stupid. But yes, that ignition pack should work just as good as original. Pretty red, but they are all made in Korea or China. Color won't be seen under the engine cover.
Well msd claims it is made with more beefy metal inside for a better spark, people are saying it is heavier than the oem part and they think their cars run better with it..
By the way summit’s site says it wont work on encore but i confirmed on msd’s site that it does..
MSD wants to sell their product. I fail to see how a heavier coil pack with thicker steel would make it better. A spark is a spark. My cheap coil pack works fine as you can see in the Torque APP results. Been in my Trax now for 5 years. And you are correct in saying it will work in the Encore, it will also work in the Cruze and any other vehicle using this engine, they are all the same.
The bigger the spark, the better it ignites the fuel. A very weak spark maybe the fuel doesnt burn fast enough and some of it goes to waste… idk.. its always worth a few bucks to mAke something better..
Well you can believe them if you want. If a spark plug arcs at 25000 volts you don't need 30000 volts because it's going to collapse at ignition anyway.
I would be careful using MSD on GM cars. Sure they look pretty.
I put MSD stuff on a 99 supercharged grand prix I once owned, and they failed within a year. I put them on a 2004 supercharged grand prix too, and they also failed pretty fast. I put some autozone ones back on and had no problems.
I would go with stock GM ac/delco/delphi ignition coils. I would use autozone brand ignition coils before using MSD again.
Was that the parts fault or the road salt used on our roads in the winter that's highly corrosive. They don't use road salt in Korea. Otherwise they would have probably lubricated and weather sealed the boots with dielectric grease like I did when I had to change it 5 years ago.
Leave politics out of forums. One of the rules. Same with religion. Always comes to bad arguments not related to the Encore.
I purchased this one, actually I purchased 4 and put 2 up for sale on Kijiji for $100 which sold quickly. If you look closely the boots come pre-lubricated. They were even cheaper 5 years ago but dealer wanted over $300Cdn for one of these. I now have a spare in case it happens again.
