2012 Regal GS 6MT. Time for engine replacement, is it possible to remove from top side? Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I would recommend leaving it in the subframe and taking it out through the bottom. It will stay a lot more complete.

What's the consensus on this it looks possible. I started tearing mine down to for a failed #4 piston to replace. I also would like to pull it out the top. what's the difficulty rating of separating the transmission from the engine in the bay?

This job wasn't as bad as I had been worked up for. If you have a FWD model its pretty straight forward and it will come out the top pretty easy (no differential to fight) . Like omega said and the Chilton manual says watch your torque converter as you separate the block from the transaxle, it wanted to come with and I missed it spilling transmission fluid everywhere. leave the AC pumpin the bay out of the way and pull her up. I didn't even have to take the hood off. Good luck to those of you asking around on here. It can be done and it wasn't that bad. Ill update when the new one goes back in.

Was yours a manual?

Does anyone know if the auto transmission (fwd) will come out the top? It looks like it will to me.. I looked in Chiltons and it says to pull the front bumper cover and sub frame - that would be a ton of work without a lift..
