First Time "Mechanic"

Hey everyone. So I am about to embark on my first time repairing something I would have usually pivoted to a trained mechanic for. My fuel pump went out on me last week. I knew it was a fairly simple (in theory) repair seeing as it's a drop-in replacement with the right tools and precautions. I have all the tools and knowledge of how things work. I wanted to see if anyone had any particular tips or advice I may not have seen in the few comprehensive videos I found on YouTube. Thanks for any help you guys can give me before I get started on this in a couple of hours.

Did you ever install your aftermarket radio or did you have it installed by a shop?

It’s pretty straightforward installation and easy access due to not having to drop the fuel tank, a very good design IMO. Most of the aftermarket pumps come with a different connector where you have to splice the original wires to make it work. It should have detailed instructions on which colored wires to connect. The round orangish-colored plastic part of the original pumps can swell up over time, making it very difficult to maneuver them out of the hole in the fuel tank because the diameter has become too large. Sometimes it takes a lot of careful prying and patience to get them to come out in one piece. Make sure nothing falls down in the tank and that the gasket on the cover is on correctly. I would replace fuel filter also at the same time just as good maintenance measure.

Yes I did get it installed myself, I decided to go with a non-touch screen single din and decided against an extra module for steering wheel controls that i'd most likely never even use anyways but i did stick with the RAP module and everything has been great since. I also wound up getting the pump installed no issues whatsoever. Thanks guys for the consideration and advice.
