I pulled the trigger earlier this week and ordered a AWD Premium 2 Lacrosse. While trying to record from a CDR to the hard drive I receive this error message

"the song could not be recorded because the inserted disk cannot be read or the disk format is not supported"

I tried experimenting with different brands of CDR's like sony and memorex and received the same error message.

Does Buick not support recording CDR's or is there something that I'm missing? it does seem to work on a few CD's that I purchased. i am using Nero with a write method of Track-At-Once if that helps.

I know as option I can dump into a USB drive and copy to the HDD but i would like take advantage of the Grace Notes feature of suggesting similar types of music. My understanding that Grace Notes does not support copying of mp3's through a US drive.

Sorry if this has been covered but i searched the forums and couldn't find anything.

I would be happy to look into this for you with the last eight of you VIN. Please feel free to contact me privately for more assistance. Thank you.

All I've been using are CDRs so they should work. I just make a collection of songs off of iTunes and burn them to a disk. I'd have to try it again to confirm it but I believe some transfers may have even been from a CDRW.

I realize your question is about CDs but maybe you want to consider another direction (assuming you can get yours CD's into mp3 format).

I just use a USB stick. You can either leave the songs on the USB stick or use it as a method of getting them out to the car's HD. They hold thousands of songs, are inexpensive, and reusable. I have several around the house but bought one to leave in the car's USB port. I bought one on eBay, 16 gigs for $16. It arrived quickly, I tossed lots of songs on it, and it's in the car now working like a champ. I bought the 16GB size because the manual (page 7-42) states...

Connecting and Controlling a USB Drive (Radio with CD and Radio with CD/DVD/MEM) The infotainment system can only play back .mp3 and .wma files from a USB drive. Only the first 2,500 songs are recognized on the device. When a device is not supported, the message “No supported data found. You can safely disconnect the device” appears.

How do I pick a suitable USB stick size for the LaCrosse?

1 song = about 4 megs (MB)
250 songs = about 1 gig (GB)
2500 songs = about 10 gigs (LaCrosse's USB max)

Which USB to buy?

1GB USB = about 250 songs
4GB USB = about 1000 songs
8GB USB = about 2000 songs ($10, would be great and even cheaper than mine)
16GB USB = about 4000 songs ($16 almost too big but you do get your max 2500 songs, this is the one I bought)
32GB USB = about 8000 songs (Doh!, too big, not worth it for LaCrosse only usage)
