Heated seat Issue

Ok on our newly purchased 2013 Buick Regal GS 58,000 Km the wife notice the drivers heated seat was not working. The passenger side works fine. The drivers side says its on but no heat. First check was fuse but it only lists one fuse for heated seats not one for driver and one for passenger so can't be that.

Then thought Heated seat Module. looked under driver seat and there is one there. Looked under passenger seat and didn't see one. So would I assume that there is only one Module for both seats? and if one seat is working and the other is not, is the Module good?

Next would be to take the seat apart and check for a broken wire, is this a common problem with these cars? Does the bottom seat come apart quite easily and can you get to the heated wire coil in the seat?

Yes, I think the Heated Seats can be a problem.
Do the 3 Red Lights next to the Seat Icon Come On and Stay On?
If they come on and go out within seconds, there is most likely a problem with the Heating Element.
If they stay on but there's still no heat, the problem may be somewhere else, maybe the Control Module for the seats?

Removing the Leather Cover along with the Heating Element and Foam wasn't all that hard to do.
I wanted to replace the Leather Cover on my Regal, so I purchased a used one on Ebay.
The Foam and Heating Element came with the Leather Cover and were already attached.

First, I had to Remove the Seat Controls on the side (just enough to get it out of my way.
Then it was just unhooking some clips that are attached to the Leather Seat Cover.
They are pulled tight and hooked to the Springs under the seat.
You'll have to unplug the Heating Element from the Control Module.

The Element is between the Foam and the Leather Cover, but I didn't have to replace that.
Many Seat Covers are held on to the Foam or Frame with Hog Rings (not sure about Regals)?
You'll need to have Hog Ring Pliers and Hog Rings to reattach the Seat Cover.

When you hit the drivers Heat Seat button it indicates that it is on. It will stay on for awhile then go out. the seat never heats up. The passenger side one comes on and stays on and the seat heats up.

Now with only one Heated seat module I wonder if one seat works and the other does not the module is good , unless there is 2 different circuits in them one for each seat.

I will have to wait til next weekend and check it out some more.

My Driver seat didn't work when I bought my Regal.
I didn't realize that the 3 Red Lights had gone out after I'd pressed the seat icon (I was sitting
in the passenger seat when I pressed it).
Once I found out that it wasn't working our son offered to fix it for me.
Our son works at a Buick Dealership (Service Advisor), so he got mine fixed for me pretty cheap.
He fixed it cheaper than what Parts would have cost me.
I never asked him if it was the Heating Element or the Control Module.
All I cared about at that time was that it was fixed.

I'm pretty sure that the Drivers and Passengers Seats both work from the same Control Module
(Under the Driver's Seat).
You could always Unplug the Main Connection at the Module, Reseat it, then try it again to see if it's working.
But I'm betting you have a bad Heating Element.
There are Two Elements, Upper and Lower
All it takes is for one of them to be bad and the whole seat doesn't work.
Most of the time it's the Lower Heating Element.

@Brew - Did you ever get this resolved? Just had the same thing happening now on my 2012 Regal Premium III. Push the button, I can hear the module or switch or whatever click but after a minute or so it clicks again to turn it off again. No heat. Passenger seat works fine.

mine hasn't worked since I got it in 2012 with 35k miles on it. Passenger works fine. I'm betting heating element. I'll have to extract it out of there and check it out with a multimeter. Cabin seems warm enough to put this off for another 5 years though.
