Hello All, a quick question

I'm ajharman53, and I've had my 2002 Regal LS since the middle of February. I really love it, but there is only one issue I have with it. After my previous car had an aftermarket radio in it, I really miss not having one.

So, fast forward to March, and my brother struck a deal with a guy which resulted in me acquiring 2 Kicker CVR 10' 4 Ohm subwoofers and an Alipine 1000W monochannel amplifier. I already have a subwoofer box, which fits perfectly in the trunk, but I'm having trouble deciding what radio I want and if it will fit into my existing radio slot.

So far, according to Crutchfield.com, this radio will fit http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KWR800B/JVC-KW-R800BT.html,
but this one will not fit http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DPX500B/Kenwood-DPX500BT.html
But, when I visit their respective websites, the JVC unit's minimum installation size is 7-3/16" x 4-3/8" x 6-5/16" (182 x 111 x 159.5mm), where as the Kenwood unit's is 7-3/16" x 4-7/16" x 6-1/4" (182 x 112 x 158mm). So, logistically speaking, there is a minimal difference between the two units. I'm just wondering if Crutchfield.com's "Will it Fit" option is bogus or not.

Does anyone have an experience similar to the situation I'm in? If you do, what kind of unit should I be looking for?

The crutchfield info is usually pretty good however they sometimes speak in generalities. For instance, the stock regal radio size is 'double DIN' which in radio lingo is pretty damn big......hole size. Where you usually run into trouble is depth. The Regal is no different. There is some plastic structure that, depending on the depth of your radio you might have to trim out with a dremel. Same holds true for the HVAC ducting. Where your RCA plugs come out may require you to trim some of the ducting too.
I've had three radios in the Regal so far. Two single DIN's with adapters and now a double DIN Pioneer. The AVH X2500BT to be exact. Fits good, looks great and sounds unbelievable. Even added a backup camera. can be had on ebay and prob others for $250.

I really like that Pioneer unit, have you had any kind of trouble with it? I had a Pioneer DEH-P1200MP in my old Grand Am, but it would randomly shut down for some unknown reason.

Radio has been in a month or so and works flawless. Streaming Pandora via bluetooth from my Android phone and it sounds great. make sure you install the emergency brake 'bypass' device so all your features are available when driving.
