Buick Ownership
Buick
Hi! I'm new to the forum. After over twenty years of owning Dodge/Plymouth vehicles (with one Mazda in there under very similar circumstances), I find myself the proud owner of a 1999 Buick Century.

The arm rest doesn't latch anymore, and the cup holder is in pieces in my trunk. But hey, it's three good paychecks away from all mine (which means under present circumstances it'll take me 18 months!).

Any words of wisdom from other owners? I have changed the spark plugs in a car once (it was the little 4-banger I owned in college); is that a possibility here, or have they hermetically sealed the spark plugs like the pentastar models? 🙄

hello, the armrest not latching seems to be a common problem (cheapish plastic) along with the cupholder, you can do one of 2 things, either go to a junkyard and get at teast a new latch which is 2 phillips screws, or remove the spring that opens the center console; that is slightly more involved since you need to remove the lid and push the rod for the hinge out for that. Cupholders I would recommend one of the one that go over the center hump in the floor or in between the seats, I personally prefer the one between the seats since it's easier to reach and the dash doesn't interfere in any way. A third option would to try and source a newer style armrest that has the cupholders molded into them on top, that would be a bit more involved since you'd be replacing the whole armrest but the tradeoff is a nicer armrest overall. As for the spark plugs, the ones on the front bank are a cinch to do as they are practically staring at you when you pop the hood, the other ones I can't remember exactly how off the top but I do remember seeing the how to in another post, that should be relatively easy searching the forum for. I hope this helps you out.
