Hi.. wondering if you can help.

I am constantly getting water on the pass. floor. It's closer to the seat than to the front of the footwell. I have already tried to block the passage of water from the engine compartment / air filter. This seems like it's coming from somewhere in the heat duct or something.

Do I just drill a hole in the floorboard? won't this cause water to come up from the ground?

THANK YOU

I wouldn't drill any holes. Are you loosing engine coolant. First thing that comes to mind when you say leaking from the vents is a leaking heater core. It would be leaking coolant, not water though, and it would have a sort of sweet smell\bitter smell to it (unless you have just water with no coolant mixed in it). Does it only get wet when it's raining or does it do it every time you drive the car?

thanks for the response. Its definitely water when it rains. I've tried to seal up the air intake near the air filter with some plastic. Maybe I didn't do it well enough.

The odd thing is, the water is not near the front of the passenger wheel. I would expect that if the leak came from near the blower, the front would be wet. It's wet near the passenger seat, closest to the door. it could be just the angle of the car that it ends up there though.

One thought came to mind.... I recently had the windshield replaced. wonder if that could be the fault.

It's a possibility, i would think that it would be gathering towards the front of the car, but it's still possible gravity is settling it towards the seat. It might also be a door seal. Running a hose over the seals and windshield will help find it, but you may have to pull the carpeting away from the edges to find the actual source.

Its the cabin air filter cover, a rubber dam wasn't replaced properly.

There is a hole under the door that can build up water. I did not know this. I was at Walmart and while my door was open it was pouring water out underneath while I was loading groceries. I kept looking at it well someone was walking by, they came over and showed me the problem. There's some kind of a plug I got you have to open. Try that see if that's the problem
