Has anyone installed an HID headlight conversion kit in their PA? I just had my headlights restored so that they are clear again and I'm thinking HID lights would make a nice upgrade . If you've done this where did you buy the kit and lights? I just remembered I would have to do the cornering lights too.

I would get me some nice LED bulbs of high quality instead of HID.
LED is a 1:1 change and you can stay with your headlight and reflector assembly.
Also a LED doesnt pull as much current, therefore your harness and connectors will live longer.
HID needs a different reflector and glass pattern to shine properly.

An HID mod would also require wiring modifications so that high beam activates a switch which darts the reflector which is a custom job in itself to put together

I have just ordered some leds - will let you know how that goes.

Might have to take them out again when our annual car test is due.
Yes please let me know how they work out for you and which ones you used. Did you buy bulbs for the turning lamps too ?

The only reason I mentioned HID lights is because we had them put in my wife's Kia Soul and they work great. But yeah if the LED are the better and easier route then i'll go that route . The stock bulbs really make the car look old and tired coming down the road.

I have added LED's to 5 Park aves in my family. You loose the daytime running lights when you do this. I purchased all the same brand from Amazon. No issues at least 5 years so far on them.

You lose daytime running lights swapping the bulbs for LEDs or HID conversion ?

You loose running lights going to LED. I did with bulbs I used? Any body else?

That's odd. Why do you lose day time running lights just by changing the bulbs? 🤔

I didnt. I retained my DRL although I did buy new housings which have their own wire harness. Iwill go get pictures of the stock headlight and wiring and the aftermarket. if its not the wiring, auxbeam 9005 f16s work at 6v. for drl.

You do NOT lose park lamps by using LED if you install them correctly.

Park Avenue does DRL by running the high beam at 6v because 1) it greatly lengthens lifetime of a halogen 9005 to run it at 6v, and its does not shorten the low beam lifespan to use the high beams for DRL.

Most LEDs like to have a specific and constant voltage entering them, and use that to convert down to a small voltage with built in electronics to supply themselves

Thank you for explaining this to me. Maybe I'll just leave it the way it is. Besides , I've got a whole new problem ,stay tuned for a new post 🤦‍♂️

Well I belive installed the high and low beam LED bulbs correctly only one way to plug them in. DRL do not work with the LED lights I installed and I Love them. Got them in my 3 Parks ,1 in my son's and 1 in my parents car. Looed back at my Amazon purchases 2019 SEALIGHT was the brand 9005 and 9006

Looking at some literature for the F16 auxbeam , they support 6v DRL on the 9005 high beam, but it wasnt 100% confident inspriing the sources I used

This is what I use in my 2500-HD & totally amassed @ the difference from OTC bulbs!
Amazon.com
It comes in a pack of 4. Is it for the regular headlights and the cornering lights ?

Ngl Im skeptical about the lights posted by hot, c an you show me what your beam is like on a wall at night with your truck? We can compare beams 😉

Also, the only difference is gmt 800 doesnt use the high beam for DRL so if you really like having DRL you would have to find a solution(there are numerous)
