Often toyed with this idea. The cassette player conked out a few years ago, after even more years of sort of playing but the speed used to vary and also the tape would get really hot. Steering wheel controls don't work very well either anymore so sometimes the tape would randomly switch sides. Given those issues, maybe not worth it but if it wouldn't be too expensive might be worth exploring. First would be to find the same unit that fits in there, and then no idea how big a job it'd be.

The hardest part is removing the dash fascia to gain access to the radio. I started to watch that video, and stopped because it didn't cover some things. I wrote the attached article for my 1998 Riviera. The 95 should be similar if not the same.

Thanks. That's the exact same video I came across by doing a search. It looks kind of like something I'm not sure I want to tackle. What concerns me the most is finding a unit that will completely fill the space like the original. There are lots of different radio / cassette / CD units out there. I wouldn't want to alter the original appearance of the dash and have to have something to fill the space on either sides, or top / bottom.

Would something like this, for example, fit the space? Delco Buick factory AM FM CD cass player radio stereo 96 97 98 99 00 09366384 | eBay Description refers to "most" 1995-2000 models. Here's another one: Buick Delco GM factory cassette player radio stereo 95 96 97 98 99 00 10303193 | eBay None of those match what I have in there now, but it wouldn't matter if the dimensions are the same I suppose.

I would check the Crutchfield website for radios that fit. I haven't look at radios in a while but I believe they are classified as "Double-Din". Also be careful with used from ebay. Many radios have a anti-thief loc function on the radio and can be a pain to get it matched to you vin without GM codes.

Finally able to get back on this site. No idea why I couldn't for several days. I've been discussing this on the rivperformance site. I've been told by my auto repair shop that double DIN is the correct size of the units that were put in the Buicks and I found several on eBay. The only thing that's holding me back is that the steering wheel controls are screwy as I already mentioned. Not sure if that will continue to cause an issue once a new player is installed. If it does, then that problem would need to be addressed as well. Not sure how deep I want to go in with this.
