How to open trunk from inside?

Talk about the slow boat from China ... the fob I ordered on June 24 (above) just arrived yesterday. But good news, it works! Following the instructions in the paper manual it took less than 5 minutes, and now I can open the hatch with my remote. Crazy that we have to go through all these shenanigans on a $50k+ car.

One thing to note is that I checked the battery in the fob as soon as I opened it and it was low (2.7V) so I replaced it right away. The fob also doesn't have the Buick logo in the centre; I may try to pry one off my other fobs, or just live with it.
That's great to hear that it worked for you!! I'm still waiting on the one from AliExpress, but I did receive a 2nd one I ordered on eBay. Haven't had a chance to program it yet, but the 14mm Buick logo that snaps in the centre of the fob came with it.

I have some of the 14mm Opel blitz logo's, which I'll use on my fobs, so I don't need the Buick one. If you want it, it's all yours. Shoot me an email at impalamaker@gmail.com with your address and I'll put it in an envelope and mail it to you.

I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times in the last 20 or so years where I needed to be able to open the boot (trunk to you guys) or Liftback from the drivers seat. I don't miss having a button I can press from the drivers seat.

What I'm not so keen on is not having a manual backup release in case the electric one fails. Same goes for the fuel cap release.

It sure came in handy when it was -20 in the middle of winter during the Covid lockdowns. Order groceries from Walmart, hardware from Home Depot or Lowes, etc, all online, and when you get the email saying it's ready to pick up, you just pull into one of the pick up area parking spots and text the number to let them know you're there. When they bring your order out to the car, you just press the button to pop the trunk/hatch, and they load it up, while you stay toasty and warm inside.

You are correct about not having a manual release option, in case the electric release fails, (although I've never had that happen myself). Since most new vehicles today don't even have a keyway to manually open the trunk, I'm guessing the engineers are probably quite confident that the quality and reliability of the electric lock is robust enough not to fail.

Thanks, very kind of you to offer, but I was able to use the logo from the fob I bought on eBay last year that didn't work 🙂
