I have a 2008 Buick Lucerne CXS with the Northstar V8 . I was driving the car for about hour and park at home that evening got up the next day the car started up and start stalling and missing. The reduce power show up on the display and stablizer, traction show up also. It show a code for crank sensor and the map sensor, the battery also was weak. Talk to a GMC dealership and they said they had a recall on the electrical going to the battery which I'm to late to get the free service, I check the wires they seem to be fine, brought a new battery still want start just turn over no spark. The dealership said I need to replace both crank sensor, I got the sensor today and went to put them on but couldn't find them can anyone tell me were are they loacted and what to do to change them and once I put them on do I need to program them are what. Thank for any feedback P.S. I don't want to take this car to the dealer it will in up being a nightmare but if I have to I will, PLEASE HELP

Thank you for your answer , the forum said to look above the oil filter adapter and I didn't see any sensors or wiring on my motor, there looks like a sensor was design to go above the oil filter but there is no hole just thread for a 10mm bolt I remove the mount and everthing to get a good look no sensors I check the internet and all say the same thing, and I also have a manual that goes up to a 2005 cadillac repair manual and it said the same thing. My motor seems to be cast different because it do have a shape for the sensors but no holes or wiring and I also look around the oil pan and the front damper, also around the transmission. Could they be under the intake.

Thank you for your answer, I went to the dealer and they actually gave me the location and a printout showing that both sensor are located under the intake manifold, but to my supprise the cam sensor, knock sensor, and both crank sensor wiring was melted together causing all my problems, the dealer don't know what might have cause this, I order another harness for $65.00. Good I know how to take a few bolts loose save a lot. PS still trying to fiqure out why the harness did this the car could have caught fire.

You actually have one Crank sensor and two Knock sensors but in any event, none of those circuits carry enough current to melt wires.

Unless there are other 'high current' capable circuits in that harness I would look for an outside source (chemical or heat) as the reason.

You are right there is only one crank sensor and two knock sensor , when I took the intake off there was power steering fluid in the valley, there was a leak coming from the pressure line that was fix about a year ago didn't take the intake off back then could this cause the melting or the heat from the starter. Thank you for your help.

Thanks, I started the engine ran for a minute and wouldn't start back up check engine light came on, I check too see if the other codes were still there from before and they are clear but I have 2 different codes now P1516- Reduced engine power, throttle actuator module and P2101 showing throttle actuator position performance also, what do I need to do now because it seems that I might have some other problems going on with the wiring or do I need to replace the throttle assembly or the ECM.

Sounds like you might not have plugged your throttle motor back in or maybe pinched it's wires when you put the intake back on.

Yes I thought about that too so I took everthing back off and check my wires and made sure evething was connected then reconnected the battery, got the same results. Do you think I might have burn the throttle actuator control module or the ECM
