Hub bearing replacement

Good morning folks. I need to replace my wheel hub bearings, are these questionable? If so does anyone have a recommendation for a pair? Thanks.

Hello Silver, am a veteran of many hub replacements, my experience is this, the low cost replacements have a life that ranges from one month to one year. After that you do it again, if the failure is bad enough it may trash your rotor as well.
Even if I do not think the car has long to go, I always install "Timken" (usually made in USA) or if not available "SKF" or "MOOG". Bearings are very critical in their construction and any variation in material quality (hardened tool steel) or tolerance (less than .0004") and the failure is just a matter of miles.

This is what I bought from Rock Auto at the end of June. They have 2 versions and I got the higher-end version.



If you read the reviews on the one you posted, one of them says that they spin too easily and he expects them to fail early.

Gonna look on rock now. What symptoms did you have? I put the car on a lift and put it in drive and hear a humming/rumble sound. There is also play in the drivers front wheel.

The test for a bad wheel bearing (old school, only way I know) is to jack up the car, grab the wheel at 12 and 6, and wiggle it. It should be solid and not rock back and forth. If you grab at 3 and 9 you will feel any slop in the steering components.
Old style tapered roller bearings had a very small amount of "rock" when cold, to allow for thermal expansion. Double row sealed ball bearings on the front drives should have none.

If you want more info you need to remove the wheel, retract the brake pads (shove a screwdriver in the little window at the top and pull it so that the pistons push in a little), this will allow the rotor to spin freely without the brake dragging, it should spin smooth and without sound, if you hear growling or clicking (constant, not once a rotation) your bearing is likely on its way out.

My only symptom was loud noise from the front of the car while moving. I did not do the wiggle test. After replacing the passenger side I took it for a short test drive and it was way better. After replacing the driver side, the car was completely different to experience!

When I first bought it a year earlier it did not make the noise.

It still sounds good 4 months later. I hope it continues to sound and drive well for a long time.

Yes I have a loud noise when driving and I also heard it when I put the car on the lift that I have access to. I ordered the ones you got and they should be delivered this Friday.
