Hi all,

I have a 2012 Buick Verano with about 85.5k miles. I have had this car since 30k miles. It is a great little car and I have had minimal problems ( Just a bad intake camshaft position sensor once that was $50 to replace ). However, while this may have been happening for a long time or even since I got my car, I have noticed something recently about my RPMs when I downshift. It seems once I get below around 30mph, once I slow down the RPMs will go down but slightly go up here and there while I slow down. Just a little, tiny uptick as it continues to slow down until I stop.

Is this normal? I can't say it is new, it may not be. Ever since I replaced that sensor, I've been very paranoid about my car as I want it on good shape.

On acceleration and deceleration the TCC torque converter locks and unlocks sometime between 30 and 40 mph. This could vary do to throttle position. When this happens the rpms will raise or drop anywhere between 50 and 200 rpms depending when the computer commands it. So most likely this is what you are seeing during your deceleration

Hello kind stranger - so in "Not car person" terms... I do not really need to worry?

I cant be 100% certain but how you are describing it, it sound like as I said. I wouldn't worry about it.

My car does the same thing..
'13 Base 86.5k
Also had to switch out the intake/exhaust camshaft solenoid

Yeah I guess that's perfectly normal as far as the RPMs go. And yeah I guess ecotech engines can need those replaced now and then. Was super easy.
