I want to upgrade the ac control unit, but....

I have a 2004 lesabre custom with the slider ac control unit. I recently got a 2001 lesabre limited with a bad motor for parts. When I took out the digital automatic climat control from the limited, I noticed the backs were not the same, and I couldn't just plug and play. What I am wondering is, what would it take to switch it out? Can the wiring harness on the limited be spliced into the custom?

The digital control unit is for car that you set the temp and the system maintained the setting.
There are sensors involved as well as a different HVAC controller, first you would need a service manual to determine all the divices you need and how they are wired.
Be cheaper to find a car with that system.
