I have a 1999 Buick lesabre that stalls every now and than normally on warmer days at random times. Car acts like I just shut the engine off however I still have lights on the dash just no power. Sometimes the car will start right back up and other times it might take 30 minutes to start. I have no service engine codes in the system. Within the past year the mass air flow sensor, fuel pump, MAP, and PCV valve have been replaced. Does anyone have any idea what I can look at that could be causing these issues with this car. It has 182465 miles on the car however it runs great other than stalling every now and than. I drove it all winter long without it stallling at all however once it started to warm up it stalled again recently. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Take a look at the crankshaft position sensor - check out this link on how to test the CKP sensor - http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/gm/3.8L/how-to-test-the-crank-sensor-1

One quick test you could do before digging into the CKP sensor with a meter would be to test the spark plugs right when it stalls.

You say it takes about 30 mins to restart so that's plenty of time to break out the HEI spark tester and put it on top of the coil posts. If you don't get spark during that window it probably is a bad CKP sensor.

Next time your engine stalls, and you discover that you do not have spark, use a simple 2-gal garden sprayer with water, to spray the CKPS to cool it. It should not take much to bring down the temp enough to start the engine. If the engine starts using this method, you need to replace the CKPS. This method saves a lot of testing time.

Just wanted to comment back on this issue. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor and have been waiting on multiple hott days in a row and so far so good. No more stalling at random times and always starts up. Thanks again to everyone for your help. Very much appreciated!!!
