2018 Regal TourX Essence
A word of caution to those looking to do your own brakes with aftermarket parts. I have been searching around and found a few kits that said they fit the TourX and Regal Sportback. One kit that looked promising was from Brake Motive on eBay. If you put in a 2018 TourX it will say it fits as can be seen in these screenshots.

But you will notice it says a J60 brake code which I think has <300mm front rotors. I reached out to the vendor to see if they had other pad options and they advised me that these won't fit. Confused I pulled out my build sheet and saw I have J17 brake code which is I think a 326mm front rotors.

My guess is Awd cars will have the J17 brakes and fwd will be J60 but you might want to confirm what you have before you order. There was a thread a while back where people were getting kits from Amazon but they were J60... can't find anything on whether they fit.

Finally, does anyone know if the rear brakes are the same between fwd and awd? I ask because I was told by the vendor they only offer a front kit for the TourX...just wondering if I can use the rears from a J60 kit.

Does anyone have actual part numbers for front and rear rotors for a TourX? I thought I was onto something when I was digging through Centric Parts website but just ended up more confused. While they confirm the front rotors are 321mm they indicate the rears are 288mm. While this seemed reasonable I put in a Sportback and found that front wheel drive have 300mm upfront and 288 in the rear with a special note that says 300mm upfront. Part number for the TourX and FWD Sportback were the same. To further confuse things if you pick a Sportback AWD the fronts are 321mm as expected but the rears are listed as vented and to be used on a GS. I thought about contacting my local dealer but hate wasting their time when I don't intend on buying from them. Any other thoughts on how to confirm the right fitment?

GM parts direct maybe? Can pull up TourX and check against GS, and both FWD and AWD sportbacks.

Also, super cheap drilled/slotted rotors from eBay? No. Just, no. Your car deserves better than that. That's like removing Pirellis for some Nankangs because the sidewall is flashier.

Taken from the 2020 Sportback and TourX Order Guide:
J17 - Brakes, 4-wheel antilock, 4-wheel disc, 17" front and 16" rear
J60 - Brakes, 4-wheel antilock, 4-wheel disc 16" front and rear - FWD models only.
JQ5 - Brakes, performance, 4-wheel antilock, 4-wheel vented disc, includes Brembo 4-piston front

Here's what I was able to come up with as far as the true rotor diameters (Front/Rear in mm):
Regal Sportback AWD - 321/288
Regal Sportback FWD - 300/288
Regal TourX - 321/288
Regal GS - 345/315

I should have mentioned I checked multiple GM parts sites but couldn't make sense of their references to 16 & 17 but now seeing what JackGS posted I know understand it...kind of.

Cheap doesn't equal junk all the time. Brake Motive is a well received brand. They resell Power stop parts and I have read/seen several reviews from forums with much higher performance vehicles than the TourX some were even autocrossing with them. Hell the TourX is cheap for what you get, that value is why many of us have one, that value isn't a bad thing.

Jack GS thanks for this, I couldn't understand the reference of 16 & 17 at gmpartsdirect. At first I thought 17 was short for J17. I am guessing those numbers refer to the minimum diameter rim that will clear them. Since all models use a 288mm rear I am wondering why they said they don't have a kit for the TourX rear. Since gmpartsdirect lists the same part number for the rears as well maybe I can get them to mix the kits.

I am guessing those numbers [16 & 17] refer to the minimum diameter rim that will clear them

Does this mean that all TourX come with J17 brakes and therefore cannot mount 16" rims on the front?

& if that's the case, would the Regal FWD model (J60) calipers & rotors bolt up onto the TourX knuckle & hub?

FYI, i carried this over question here - my search for the 16/17 info lead to this thread, but the discussion's more relevant RE the wheels.
Thanks for the help 🙂

Reviving the thread to discuss further the J17 brake code and parts. I eventually went with PowerStop drilled and slotted rotors with their Z26 pads. Overall it worked well but I am tempted to just buy their rotors and GM OE pads. The problem is at RockAuto I see several pads listed as front J17 AcDelco or GM ranging from about 40 to 85. So can anyone confirm what they bought for their TourX or the dealer used? This really should not be so difficult to figure out.

@Wlepse There are the pads I installed last fall. They were meant to be an inexpensive temporary solution but I've actually been quite happy with them.

The handwritten attachment is what the dealer gave me as the part numbers for my TourX after I gave them my VIN number. I can't believe what they're charging for the rear pads.

Hopefully this helps somehow?

Thanks, that does help and yes rears are crazy expensive. That price is what pushed me to try the PowerStop rear rotor and pad set that was still less than OE pads. When I did the fronts with PowerStop I thought they were fine but I really prefer the bite of the stock pads and wanted to make sure I got back to stock. When I put that front pad number in Rock I got one that came up with the following "Alternate Inventory Numbers: 171-1166, 84259368, 23303281." The Genuine GM that is listed is around $74 so I will likely be picking those up soon. Thanks again!
