Why is there no locking gas cap?

The 2018 and possibly the 2019 models were made with no cap at all. They should have made the gas door locking with a release button in the vehicle. More cost-cutting. 😒

Interesting comments. The Lacrosse had a locking gas door and there were so many complaints that the replacement indicated by the technical service bulletin no longer has a lock.

It's interesting that after all the years locking gas doors have been around that GM didn't do it right. My Grand Cherokee had a handy dash button and never once did I have a problem with it. 🤔

Engineers must have been asleep at the wheel to have eliminated this very important feature. Did you eliminate your ☕ when making that decision fellas? 😄

You purchased it and it's working correctly?

I can understand trying to protect against gas thieves. But the old fashion way of siphoning fuel is not as easy with the modern car. They have what is called a rollover valve in the filler tube that stops a hose from get to the fuel tank. I'm not telling you not to protect yourself. Just some FYI. Now they are drilling holes in the gas tank from underneath

As said there punching a hole in the plastic gas tank then run. Sucking gas out of the neck can take much longer. There also back at stealing catalytic converters again. That's just as easy and way more profitable.

Gasoline goes up, caps go on and the cycle of posted suggestions which never work.

Good luck on finding a actual cap that has been confirmed working.

Well they need to go back to the drawing board because I own a 2019 Buick envision and while I was at work the other night someone siphoned the gas out of my car. They left behind the siphon hose sticking out of my gas tank, It was 3 ft long.

I also had gas siphoned from my 2019 envision this past week.
