Hey everyone, just a disclaimer this is my first car and its the first time working on a car by myself so pls excuse any stupid questions 🙂 (my knowledge is still basic)

Car is a '94 Regal with the 3800 v6. The low coolant light sometimes comes on, my coolant level is fine, and its not overheating there are no leaks from the coolant system. What do i need to do to fix this problem?

I looked in the coolant recovery tank and the coolant looks brown-ish? I read another post on here and someone ended up fixing the problem by cleaning the recovery tank and refilling it.

My question is, can i just pump out the brown looking coolant from the recovery tank, then replace it with new coolant? Or do i have to flush the whole system? Thank you in advance for your help....

You will need to flush the whole system because the bad coolant is all through the system. The replace it with new coolant. Also, your car will run forever with that engine. Cheers, Noah

Hey Noah and thank you for the reply! How can i go about flushing the whole system?

First, you will have to drain the old coolant system. You will need to find the radiator drain plug, also make sure to loosen the lower radiator hose clamp to get the most of the old coolant out . After that fill the system with distilled water and run the engine with the heater on full blast. Then drain the water and replace with new coolant. Good Luck
