I've developed a metallic scraping sound when turning sharply (full lock) at parking lot speeds.
Ideas?

On the outside, the rotor looks good, no grooves. Thinking of taking off the tire and looking on the inside.

Any other thoughts?

It's the right front where the noise comes from.

Did you ever find what the problem was? Mine has started to do this.

Brake pad wear indicator?

Brake pad wear indicator?
Was told my breaks are fine. Only happens going forward and making a left. It doesn't always happen, but gets worse with the more the wheel is turned. I just had the bearing changed and control arm/ball joint.

Take a look at the brake shield.

When your looking, check both brakes (L&R). My son had a similar issue. It turns out the brake wear indicator was scrubbing on one side (the other side had some more pad remaining). I assumed the shop just looked at one side when they inspected the brakes.

After further observation and trial and error I figured out the problem. Where the rotor wasn't getting contact with the pad along the outer and inner edge was corroded and swollen. I knocked all of that off with a chisel and the noise went away. I only did my right side since that is where I thought the sound was coming from. I still have a hefty amount of pad left on my brakes, so I didn't want to get into changing my brakes and rotors over a simple fix that I did for free.

Wouldn’t the noise have occurred all the time rather than when locked left or right since the caliper and brake pads follow the rotor when it’s turned?

Funny you mention the corrosion. The first 4 1/2 years of life, my car was garaged. All rotors were in pristine condition at 66,000 miles. Wife got a new car. New one always gets garaged. One year and 8,000 miles later of continuous outside life, my rotors suffer the same affliction as yours. Rusty and swollen outer and inner edges on all 4 of them. Guess they’ll be needing replacement when I get the brakes done for the first time. I’ve always done my own brakes but never did Brembos before. Dreading taking it in. Imagining $$$$$$.

My assumption is that as the car gains speed, the more vibration there is, so it comes in contact more. Why when turning and only one way, I don't know. But it worked...

I hear the cost people pay for getting their brakes changed and it floors me. It's probably the same as getting 4 tires by now.
