Hey guys, got a question. I've got a 1993 Buick Lesabre Limited that I recently had to replace the front driver's door on due to a bad window assembly.
I purchased a new door assembly from a local junkyard and while the mechanic was removing the door for me, he was unable to unplug the wiring harness(es?) so instead just took a saw blade and literally cut through every single wire in the harness, telling me that I could "just splice the wires." This would be great, however I live in an area that's got about two feet of snow on the ground right now.
I need to figure out how to replace/rewire the wiring coming from the door. I left the wires from MY car cut at about a foot from the frame to allow myself some wiggle room, but at the same time I'm noticing many duplicate wires that I'm assuming are for the same systems just on opposite sides of the car (i.e. headlights, etc). I've got a Chilton's manual that lays out the schematics, but it's been a few years since I did more than pick up a multimeter.
I've done some wire tracing now, and have found some wires that seem like they trace right (for example, tracing back the "hot" wires from the dims to outside the frame) but upon connecting the hots and grounds I still have no lights. Right now I don't care about adjusting my seat or anything, I just need to have headlights. I'm comfortable with splicing wires but I do need access to a free schematic that would list the actual wires and their locations.
Thanks for any help with this. BTW I'm not feeling too good tonight so I do apologize if this lacks in sense, ask me for details and I'll do my best to provide them. Look forward to hearing from anyone.
