I am aware this issue has been discussed to some degree in other threads (namely TSB 19-NA-100 Radio Software Version 22.8 and TSB 19-NA-249 Favorites Grayed Out- Nov 4, 2019 and Suddenly navigation in down, SD card not read.) However, those threads do not pertain to this specific navigation issue. For the sake of making this info easier to find, I thought it would be more beneficial to start a new thread with an aptly named title. If you are having navigation load issues, view this preliminary information document:

PIC6418A Navigation Loading Message And Navigation Won’t Start or Slow to Start When
Ignition Is First Turned On

The key takeaway from the document is this:

Engineering has identified a root cause and working towards a service solution. Please offer the customer the provided workaround for now until a more permanent solution can be identified.

As I’ve posted before, I’ve found a faster way to get it to load.

From HOME screen, switch to MapNavi screen.
Turn volume knob right and left a couple times. VOLUME WILL NOT CHANGE.

Go back to Home Screen.
Map loads within ten seconds.

Only took me two years to accidentally find this.

Good news, software version 22.11 is officially available. With this update, the navigation now operates as it should (for me anyway). Since installing it a couple days ago, it's functioned seamlessly. With the previous version, it would fail to load at least once a day.

The TSB for this update is:
#21-NA-191: Navigation Loading Message and Navigation Will Not Start or Slow to Start When Ignition is First Turned On - (Aug 19, 2021)

Note: This update does nothing to correct the disappearing reverse lines. If the car is given ample time to boot before throwing it in gear, it's not a problem in the first place.

You know what my dealer would tell me (even if I site the TSB)?

"Within acceptable parameters."

Anybody else recently get a survey from GM about adding a device to your vehicle that would perform updates automatically instead of visiting the dealer? I did.

However when they asked what I would be willing to pay I said "$1" - it wouldn't let me enter 0. I told them on uncertain terms that I wouldn't pay for it because that's how I the vehicle should have god damned been in the first place. One of the other questions on the survey threw around the value $300. I guess we know what they think such a "luxury" would be worth.

@Jack GS
Was yours over the air update or dealer update?

Dealer update.

My service writer mentioned that some Cadillacs update OTA just fine, but not all. Then there are the GMCs and Buicks where the screens are just bricked or stuck on an updating screen... In her words, "it's real bad".

Sounds like it's so bad it's not even worth trying to get right and it's simply been disabled. OTA updates aren't something I'm gonna hold my breath for.

I just checked at mine and no update found.
Sigh, really don't want to get to the dealership. 😱
Guess I shall get that taken care of during another warranty fix. 😅

Someone posted the files for the last update 22.10 that allowed one to install at home via USB stick. Maybe they can also do same for the 22.11 eventually.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Just got mine updated at the dealer today.
Strangely, the update history is not showing this one.
It only has the previous one. 🤔

They didn't install it... My dealer did the exact same thing when I went in for the new update.

Stopped for gas on my way home from the dealer, started the car, and the nav didn't load. I decided to check the software version to verify it was updated. Sure enough, the software version didn't change and the last update was a year old. Called them and they said to bring it right back in, apologized, and installed the newest software.

You are right!
It still says 22.10! 😱
This is bloody ridiculous.

What's ridiculous is that our cars don't update like our phones and computers. No GD dealer intervention needed, no begging, no proving that we have a problem.

Over the air update "should" work...
Neighbor's Equinox worked like that.

This is really driving me nuts.
We paid more for the Buick brand, yet the Chevy works and gets more features, while we get the same damn warranty as Chevy now.

Our OTA updates will never work. I've been told there are no intentions to get it working for our vehicles either.

GM just keeps working hard to make it easier and easier to walk away. No need for me to darken the door of a GMC, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet dealership.

Is it because of Opel/PSA/"Whatever the hell they are called now"?
