1953 Buick Special 41D 4 door sedan
Hi group. I have 1953 Buick Special 41D 4 door sedan tourback. The person who owned it before me and sadly died years ago put a Chevy small block 350 with TH350 trans and Ford 9 inch Rear End. It also has power steering (with rack and pinion) and 4 wheel disc brakes. It sat in storage for years after the guy died and the person I bought it from knew nothing about it...
It seems the upper and lower control arms are stock though. And I can see where the sway bar was cut off (a piece is still in the mount holder). And there are NO front shocks at all in the front. I guess the upper wishbone thing has a shock type system in it?... Anyway. The car is very bouncy bouncy and id like to put a 1.25" upgraded sway bar in the front with poly bushings... I don't have an old on to measure and I can't find one by googling it.
Does anybody know what front sway bar "upgraded size" set up will work for my car? I circled in red where the sway bar was cut off... (Unless I'm confusing it with something else, some other suspension bar?)....
Thank you.
Kurt

Sway bar has nothing to do with the car being bouncy. Sway bar is to prevent car from rolling in turns, bouncing is because you have no shocks.

Get a GM Buick service manual for your 53 and use it to check against the vehicle, note this is a 52 but similar to the 53. The manuals are available Google it.
