New aftermarket Stereo finally installed in 04

Installed JVC KW-AV60bt in my 2004 Lesabre Limited. Managed to Retained all OEM functions. Took a lot of money/time & research getting all the adapters needed but I now have a fully functional aftermarket stereo.
Onstar (analog system & doesn't work anyway)
Warning chimes
Steering wheel controls.
Retained accessory power.

Everything working with new stereo!

The head unit is a JVC KW-AV60bt
Pyle PLCM18BC License Plate Mount camera
JVC KS-U30 USB Video Cable for iPhone (needed for GPS function)
Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface
Axxess - GMOS-05 dock & lock interface w/OnStar,chime & r.a.p.

Total cost so far around $837.00

Saw a KW-AV50 installed by a member named Jouneyforce. The AV-60bt has the exact same measurements as the AV-50. So at least I knew I could get it to physically fit.

Looks nice. I plan to do something similar someday.

Re: New aftermarket Stereo finally installed in 04

I have just recently bought a 05 LeSabre and want to do the same radio install in mine. Crutch field says this radio is 3/4" deeper than the oem, and therefore won't fit. But you are proof that it will, did you have to do any modifications to the back side? I want to use a 5 channel amp so I will be plugging rca cables into the back. I really like the way the double din looks as opposed to the single.

Actually I did have to cut the back slightly but only plastic. Behind it there's tons of room and nothing vital. I'm running a 4 channel amp with it btw-RCA's are not an issue.
Most searches that are vehicle specific will show nothing as fitting. This is not because of physical room but rather because the chime,Onstar and even some power are functions of the oem stereo through a data stream.
Once you install the Axxess-Gmos interface, you can install just about any head unit you want.
One thing to note since I installed this. The stereo is not fully compatible with iPhone 5 and up. The new lightning connecter on idevices does not have analog video out. Audio works fine.

It is a truly excellent stereo though.

I also installed the same JVC stereo myself about a year ago after the installers at Best Buy said they couldn't do it due to unexpected plastic getting in the way in the cavity. I have a 2003 LeSabre Custom and the Best Buy "fit" computer said it would fit but it didn't. They told me it was against their policy to cut the plastic even though I told them it was OK with me but they assured me I could do it myself. I went home and used my soldering gun with that little flat "melt/cut" tip to easily cut thru the plastic. It took about a half hour to slowly melt the plastic out of the way. The guys at BB were nice enough to show me the wiring connections and I got it installed myself.

TIP: to dismantle the dash, start at the right side where you should see a screw up under the airbag/dash. Once you get that off it will open up the door to about a dozen other screws that need to be removed. As I recall, the temperature control just pulls out as one unit. It was a while ago but it is certainly doable and the stereo is real nice.

Hello I want to install an aftermarket stereo soon on my 02 regal im guessing the connections would be the same for the remote control. Except mine doesnt have teh temp control on the wheel. What color is the remote cable on the harness?

That's a nice install. It has inspired me to do a similar upgrade to my Lesabre. I will post pics when it's done.

Hi all,
Sorry to revive an old thread; I hope someone here is still active and can impart some wisdom.

I just got an ‘05 LeSabre. I have a Pioneer Appradio4 (SPH-DA120) HU that I want to install. I have already wired the pioneer female harness to the GMOS-05 and ASWC-1 adapters. My multimeter shows me all my connections are bueno. However, when I plug in the GMOS-05 to the stereo connection, the HU doesn’t turn on.

I’ve read on some forums that there’s no RAP wired to the GM stereo, so I have to find something like the wipers power to connect to. Some forum posts don’t mention anything about this. I’m trying to figure out why it won’t turn on. If anyone remembers the steps they took to install their HU to completion, I’d appreciate the guidance.

Cheers!

There is no switched 12v at radio I run mine from a switched 12v wire under steering column. I just cant give you a wire color cause that was two years ago when I installed a Kenwood DDX595 in mine My memory is not that good 0427191856.webp

Does this sound right? The red switched wire from the stereo will have to link up to a switched wire from something else, like the cigarette lighter or windshield wipers.

Does the GMOS-05 also need accessory power? Do I take its red switched wire and connect it there too?

The whole idea of using that harness is that it supplies 12v Switched power from a power supply within the module. I used an Axxess LC-GMRC-04 in my 2002 Lesabre. I say make sure you hooked your accessory wire from your radio to the accessory wire on your harness. You may have a defective unit.

Turns out the GMOS-05 module I bought had crapped out! I bought the LC-GMRC-04 and it works great now. I realized that part of the module/harnesses function is to provide the switched power. My challenge now is wiring the backup camera under the trim and through the dash.
